Germany vs. Italy

Germany was recently disturbed by several acts of Italy and brought a complaint before the International Court of Justice. These acts, according to Germany, are violating the sovereignty of Germany. Sovereignty is defined as the rights that a nation possesses, which is completely independent. The main issue lies in the fact that Italy filed a international lawsuit in regards to a man, during WWII, who was taken from Italy to Germany and forced to do strenuous labor in a Nazi armaments factory. The lawsuit was settled declaring Italy as the victor, which forced Germany to pay amendments. Following the closure of the suit, Germany filed another suit claiming Acta Jure Imperii (a law term meaning right of domain). Germany uses this term to distance itself from previous Nazi Germany. Now the courts are waiting to resolve the final lawsuit. If Germany proves to be the victor they will no longer be required to pay amends to Italy.

What are important factors of conflicting nations?

            Many people are not aware of many conflicts that occur all across the world. In the nations that these political skirmishes occur they are certainly aware of these problems, as we also should be. It is my hope that after reading some of my blogs they will then become more aware of the complexity of foreign nations and the issues they are faced with.
              One of the first thing I would like to introduce to readers of my blog is the I.C.J. a court, which is a sub-committee of the U.N. with its own set of rules and regulations. They function as a court that nations can file lawsuits against another nation. Nations can do this whenever they feel a treaty has been violated, a crime against humanity has been committed, and whenever an offense has been committed.                   Readers should also briefly review themselves with the United Nations. It is truly a group working towards complete international cooperation. They have achieved amazing feats, such as allowing the United States and Soviet Russia to "talk out" the Cuban missile crisis and bringing the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, other wise known as North Korea, into open discussion and debate. An honestly remarkable idea.
                Many feel that the United States shouldn't be involved in the U.N., because it cost too much money and we never are able to get what best interest us, the U.S. Yet, many of these naysayers have not analyzed the U.N. to a point where they can make a fair judgement. Currently, the U.S. spends 400 times more money on its Department of Defense then on the United Nation's dues. The U.S. spends the same amount of money on the United Nations as it does for its budget as it does for food and lodging for senators. Also, the U.N. is a group attempting to reach compromise amongst all nations; not to be a one-sided group that only helps those who are considered the "elite" nations.
